I have always had a passion for sports. I played volleyball, and managed wrestling for 4 years, and football, hockey, and baseball for two years.

Growing up, my family “vacations” consisted of road-tripping across North America to watch my two younger siblings play sports. My brother was a very elite hockey player who had the opportunity to play in the Brick Tournament, Quebec International Peewee Tournament, and he won the MN State High School Hockey tournament in 2019. My sister was a 4-year Varsity starter and 3-year captain, who played in many elite volleyball tournaments across America.

I was not the most talented athlete, and was injured often. I have had one foot surgery and three knee surgeries. I didn’t know it at the time, but this was when I learned about the importance of mental performance and sport psychology.

In the past, I envied both of my siblings for the talent and opportunities they had, but as I reflect, I am so grateful I didn’t. I strongly believe that if I went through the experiences they did, I would not have become a sport and performance psychologist.
